It is December, the holidays are upon us, and a new year will soon arrive. May I say, “Thank you.” To my parents, who, in the mid-60s, purchased our property, giving me and my sister a wonderful place to call home, I say, “Thank you.”
To our outgoing council members, Doug McKay, Dee Schroeder, and Delsa Amundson, I also say, “Thank you.” You gave of your time, expertise, and heart. To our new mayor, Steve Breitkreuz, and councilmen, Jim Allbritton and David Kuczenski, I say, “Thank you.”
The November 19th council meeting was exceptional. Along with council members Hartmann and Jablonski, you have started addressing (and in some instances solved) pressing issues: re tax, drainage, large animal relocation during storms, goals for 2021, etc. Our newly elected state representative, Robin Bartleman, was in attendance providing support.
To the Sunshine Ranches Executive Board and Directors, I say, “Thank you.” Your support of David’s work as president, town events, and resident welfare has been unwavering. We will appoint an election committee (per the by laws) this month at our Zoom meeting (date TBA),
as the March elections will soon arrive. I hope you will consider running for re-election so we may continue our positive work.
To our Sunshine Ranches residents… “Thank you.” You have been amazing in your support of town events and fundraisers, voiced your concerns on issues which would have adverse effects on our community, and rallied behind individuals who have our best interests at heart.
Please do not stop here…consider helping the SRHOAby volunteering, writing for the Waggler, posting an ad, or serving the town by applying to one of several advisory boards.
Pioneers, yes, Pioneers, our beautiful plaques will be installed soon. If we missed your inclusion, please contact us, as this is easily remedied.
Have a wonderful and safe holiday. Toast to a new start and a new year. Enjoy the love of family. Remember to say, “Thank you.”
With love,
Chris Brownlow
The meeting started at 7:45pm. A quorum was verified.
Mayor-elect Steve Breitkreuz conducted the Pledge.
David thanked everyone who joined the meeting, and he thanked the
SRHOA for its support during the campaign (as did the other two elected
officials). He announced the election results and council positions:
David Kuczenski-councilman, Jim Allbritton-councilman, and Steve
Breitkreuz-mayor. As of tonight, David resigns his position as a board
member and president of the SRHOA. Chris Brownlow will serve as
president and Vilma Lopez as secretary.
Attendees gave their congratulations to David and the other elected
officials present. They are very happy with the election results and
changes to the town council.
Gary Jablonski noted the swearing-in ceremony for the new council
members will be on the 19th at 5:45pm, followed by the monthly council
meeting.
We will have a meeting in early December, date and time TBA. A
nominating committee will need to be established, as per the bylaws, for
the upcoming March 2021 election.
The treasurer’s report will be published in the December Waggler.
Membership reports 226 members as of today.
Some items of concern: speeding, drainage, mosquitoes.
Motion 1) Reimburse Cindy Samartino $200 for entryway maintenance.
The motion was made by Tony Brown and seconded by Ed Gonzalez.
The motion carried.
Motion 2) Donate $1,000 to the town’s scholarship fund. The motion was
made by Bob Parker and seconded by Nancy Winston. The motion carried.
Outgoing Vice-President, Sandra Farah, called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The new board members were then sworn in by Councilman Gary Jablonski. New President David Kuczenski then introduced himself and the other members of the 2017/2018 Board (See Page 2 for full list).
Davie Police Department update:
13 vehicle accidents, 58 traffic citations, and 1 burglary on a vacant home were reported.
Update on Town Events & Projects: by Councilman Gary Jablonski
Gary listed the ongoing and upcoming events and projects around both Southwest Ranches and Sunshine Ranches.
He recommended that residents always report illegal dumping of trash by generating a police report to avoid being held responsible.
Officer Reports: next were brief updates by President, David Kuczenski, Treasurer and Membership Chair, Judy Parker. Membership currently stands at 206 households, which is good for this time of year. Bank balance is $11, 779.62. (See Treasurer’s Report on Page XX.)
David informed attendees that the board plans to invite special guest speakers for every general meeting. Today’s guest was Mr. Newell Hollingsworth, SWR Comprehensive Plan Advisory Board Chair.
Mr. Hollingsworth introduced himself and gave a very interesting talk about the role of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory board and how they interact with Town leaders to help ensure that there is a balance between the desire to protect our rural lifestyle whilst maintaining infrastructure and controlled development. If any resident is interested in being considered for any of the 6 advisory boards that serve our town they should complete an application, available at the Town Hall.
He highlighted one of the recent accomplishments was the development of a standard architectural plan for residents wishing to build a simple barn with 3 stalls and a tack room. For $250 residents will be able to obtain the plan and permits and the approval process is greatly expedited and very cost effective.
Followed by the presentation, a resident noted that it appears that many animals grazing on lands in our town may not be properly fed. It was noted that some animals may be just very old or recuperating, but if neglect is suspected it should be reported to authorities.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:50 pm.
